Hoshea Fridman Ben Shalom, Founder and Honorary Director, Mechinat Beit Yisrael
Hoshea is an IDF Brigadier General and Chief Reserve Officer, as well as husband to Orli and father of six. Hoshea received the Liebhaber Prize for the Promotion of Religious Tolerance in Israel and the AVI CHAI Prize
for his pioneer work and was invited to light a torch at the 2012 national Yom Ha’Atzmaut ceremony.
Orli Fridman Ben Shalom, Executive Director, Kvutzat Reut
Orli is one of the original founders of the Beit Yisrael urban kibbutz. She is married to Hoshea, a mother of six, and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Education (BEd).
Shlomi Tamsot, Director of Mechina Education and Recruitment; Elul Program Head
Shlomi is a member of the Beit Yisrael urban kibbutz and an alumnus of Mechinat Beit Yisrael as well as the Beit Yisrael Golani Command Project. Shlomi and his wife Oshrit have three children.
Ran Serlin, Director, Mechinat Beit Yisrael
Ran is a Beit Yisrael urban kibbutz member. He is an alumnus of the Beit Yisrael Golani Command Project and serves as a Reserve Company Commander. Ran and his wife Yael have four children.
Eitan Appelboim, Founder and Director, Mechina Shana Bet/Year 2 Program
Eitan is one of the original founders of the Beit Yisrael urban kibbutz. He is a Reserve Lieutenant Colonel and he and his wife Sara are the proud parents of six and grandparents of one.
Efrat Gadish, Director of Mechina Volunteering
Efrat is a Beit Yisrael urban kibbutz member. She is an alumna of Midreshet Arvut in Netivot and has a BA in Educational Administration. Efrat and her husband David have three children.
Yigal Simon, Founder and Director, Beit Yisrael-Meytarim Beit Midrash; Mechina faculty
Yigal is one of the original founders of the Beit Yisrael urban kibbutz and Mechinat Beit Yisrael. He is on the administration of B’Sod Siach, an organization that promotes dialogue in Israeli society. Yigal has a degree in Jewish History and he and his wife Amy are the proud parents of six and grandparents of seven.
Shirli Gal, Program Coordinator and Volunteer Supervisor , Mechina Shana Bet/Year 2 Program
Shirli is a graduate of the very first cohort of Mechinat Beit Yisrael and is a member of Beit Yisrael urban kibbutz. She has a degree in Education and Land of Israel Studies.
Omer Lefkowitz, Alumni Director, Young Activist Communities Mentor; Mechina and Beit Midrash faculty
Omer is a member of the Beit Yisrael urban kibbutz and a member of Mechinat Beit Yisrael’s first graduating class. In addition to being a community social worker, he is married to Anat, with whom he has four children.
Yael Fridman, Co-founder and Program Coordinator, Beit Yisrael-Meytarim Beit Midrash; Mechina faculty
Yael is a member of the Beit Yisrael urban kibbutz, as well as a graduate of the Mechina’s second cohort and the Nahal IDF Program for Mechina alumni. She holds an MA in Jewish Philosophy and is married to Moishi.
Maya Solnick, Coordinator, Sustainability Center
Maya is a graduate of the Beit Yisrael Nahal IDF Program. She is a graduate of the Revivim program for Jewish educators and holds an MA in Jewish Studies. She also graduated from a course in Pharmaculture. Maya lives in Motza with her husband Dotan and four children.
Noa Mevorach, Community Social Worker
Noa leads programming in the Gilo community that promotes communal cooperation, individual and group development, physical recreation, neighborhood beautification, and cultural enrichment. She has a BSW degree in Community Social Work, and lives with her husband Tomer and daughter Ayala in the Katamonim neighborhood of Jerusalem.
Dudi Yitzhak, Coordinator, SACHI Youth Volunteering Program
Dudi is a Mechina graduate and a member of the Hagshama activist community. He is married to Meitar.
Aviva Lahav, Director of Projects and Communications
Aviva is an alumna of Mechinat Beit Yisrael as well as Gar’in HaNachal. She worked as a counselor to three Mechina cohorts and is a member of one of our three Jerusalem Young Activist Communities. She is currently pursuing a degree in Political Science and Jewish History. She is married to Guy.
Iris Bondi, Coordinator, Educational Programming (Four kindergartens and Elementary School Program in development)
Iris is a member of the Beit Yisrael urban kibbutz and has a Master’s degree in Social Work. She and her husband Dror have six children.
