Kvutzat Reut provides the opportunity for Mechina alumni entering the IDF to participate in two unique programs:
Golani Infantry Command Program
Every year a group of Mechina graduates enlist together in the Golani Infantry Brigade. The purpose of this project is to create military leaders motivated by Jewish social action values. Golani is an infantry brigade that is prestigious, albeit one that is made up of members from across the social and intellectual spectrum in Israel and with different levels of motivation. Thus commanding in this unit is exceptionally challenging, and participation in this special program is an enriching educational experience for participants. To date, approximately 250 Officers, 50 Company Commanders, and 15 Lieutenant Colonels have come out of this program.
In March of every year, Shana Bet/Year 2 participants complete their program and enlist in the IDF. Each year, a group of female graduates enlist to serve through the Nahal IDF program as Mashakiyot Hora’ah (teachers) in the Michveh Alon base in the North. At Michveh Alon, immigrant and at-risk teenagers who are enlisted to the IDF attend a special preparatory program in which they are given the tools and drive to become more active and contributing citizens. Our alumni serve as Commanding Officers for Educational Remediation, providing these young soldiers from the margins of Israeli society a second chance at receiving a high school diploma, thus providing them access to successful integration into Israeli society.
We keep the connection strong between soldiers and their Beit Yisrael home during the years of their service. Our staff remain in close contact with alumni in the IDF and host dozens of graduates for weekends at Beit Yisrael. Our goal is to ensure that the values-driven environment of Beit Yisrael continues to inspire graduates so they are energized to contribute a values-driven service.
