Beit Yisrael is thrilled to announce the new Beit Yisrael Elementary School which will open in September 2020!
After many years of activism in the education sphere in Gilo, including the support of the local Arial school and establishment of 4 nursery schools and kindergartens in partnership with the Meitarim Network for Inclusive Jewish Education, we are excited to take the next step in growing our neighborhood and nurturing our children’s development, love of learning and sense of belonging.
Our school is unique in its pluralistic take on Klal Yisrael’s shared Jewish heritage and identity beyond traditional religion and demographics. We will focus on growth as individuals and on loving our fellow man through an exploration of nature and everyday experiences.
Our classroom approach will be based on two educational philosophies: Dr. Gordon Neufeld’s developmental and attachment approach, and Reggio Emilia’s fluid student-centered and experiential pedagogy which views each child as a unique individual with his or her own language, potentials and strengths.
The Beit Yisrael Elementary School will support our efforts to renew our neighborhood and community by providing an revolutionary educational framework for young families and drawing new members to join us here in Gilo. We will be working in partnership with the Jerusalem Municipality and Mayor Moshe Leon to ensure the project’s success.
We will be opening two first grade classes for this school year. If you’re interested in learning more, please don’t hesitate to contact us at: Oritr@reut.org.il
Volunteers from our Mechina and other youth programs play a significant role in the success of these projects, providing one-on-one tutoring and mentorships to students and assistance to their families after school hours.
